There are very few people who have not agonized over what to give as a business gift at some time or the other. A gift is generally an indication of your goodwill that shows that you appreciate the way someone works. It’s a good public relations move and the receiver is also aware that you appreciate him for a job well done. Gifts do the company a lot of good and keep up the morale as well. So finding the right gift is a difficult job as your gift must be able to convey the message without being ostentatious or cheap or silly. Try something in the field of technology. These days there is something to suit everyone’s budget and the range is growing everyday. Ipods, Nano Pods, small digital diaries, if your boss is left-handed then maybe a left hand oriented gadget that he may not have thought of. Get it engraved and one is reasonably sure that such a thoughtful gesture will not go unnoticed. Then there are things like notebooks and laptops which are smaller, sleeker and sexier these days and can do more than half the job for you. It would rate right up there on the as far as choice of gifts is concerned!

But above all, a gift must be given keeping the person in mind. It would really be silly to give an engraved lighter and cigar holder to a non-smoker. A social faux pas will indicate that you are just fulfilling an obligation because it has to be done and there is no genuine thought behind it. The gift should bring a smile to the receivers face and have a positive impact on his life.

Keep your budget in focus but don’t be cheap. Consider this a worthwhile investment that will serve your career in a positive way. Good will and good relations never harmed anybody.
